Reverse osmosis filtration systems work on the principle of forcing water through
\na spiral-wound semi-permeable membrane. Reverse osmosis filtered water is often
\ncalled fresh squeezed because it is literally squeezed through the RO membrane.
\nSalts, like sodium, chloride, and potassium along with nitrate, sulfate, lead and
\nother contaminants cant pass through the membrane and get flushed or rejected
\ndown the drain as waste water, while purified water is collected in the water
\nstorage tank. Many water supplies suffer from low or inconsistent water pressure.
\nWell, pumps may not be able to maintain the proper water pressure for an RO
\nfiltration system. Even some municipal water systems have unsuitable water
\npressure. If you live in an apartment or high-rise building your water pressure can
\nfluctuate as water use increases throughout the facility. This may cause your
\nreverse osmosis filter system to stop working or work very poorly. If the water
\npressure is below 45 PSI, the RO system will send more water to waste than is
\nnecessary. The water purity of the filtered water can also decline because the
\nreverse osmosis membrane cannot function properly.<\/p>\n

\nor replace a broken booster pump. The APEX 150 booster pump is a direct fit
\nreplacement for APEX reverse osmosis filters. The APEX 150 Booster Pump
\nuses a safe 24-volt low-voltage transformer to provide electric power the pump.
\nThe booster pump increases the incoming water pressure to the ideal 80 PSI.
\nThis water pressure level maximizes the number of gallons produced per day
\nwhile minimizing the amount of wastewater sent to the drain. The APEX 150
\nBooster Pump is designed in the United States and manufactured with high-quality

The booster pump installation can be performed as a DIY project. We advise

          Space Your Components<\/div>\n

          Position the pump, pressure switches, solenoid, conforming to Figure 1.2 below, so that the 1\/4 tube that supplies water to the unit can be routed through them. Observe the directional arrows on the quick-connect fitting ports, cut the inlet tube squarely and insert the ends into the appropriate ports.<\/p>\n

              Turn on the water supply adapter and check for leaks. Turn on the tank. The
              \nunit should now start producing water through the drinking water faucet. Plug in the
              \npower supply to the electrical outlet. Water supply through the faucet should
              \nincrease. Pump will turn off automatically when the tank is full and resume
              \noperation when the tank gets depleted. Check for leaks! Make sure there is no
              \nleaking at joints, fittings, valves, and tubing connections.<\/p>\n
